Looking back on our last blog, it’s amazing to think of all the incredible things we have done and fun we have had in such a short time. In our last article, we mentioned that the Brownies were about to take part in a sponsored event for Cambridgeshire Search and Rescue, in which we were trying to keep a CPR mannequin ‘alive’ for one hour by giving it CPR. The Brownies did an amazing job at this very hard challenge, learning some vital lifesaving skills and raising in incredible £468.06 for the charity!
In February, we went rock climbing at Swavesey College. Considering most of the Brownies had not been rock climbing before, they all were able to do some bouldering and some even made it to the very top!

As I write this, we have just returned from our Brownie Sleepover, the first one the unit has had in 10 years. The sleepover had a nature theme (as chosen by the Brownies) and involved making bug hotels, weaving willow and playing lots of animal games! With the help of local Warden, David Gedye, we visited a Woodland Trust managed site to learn more about different types of trees and how the woodland is used and managed. Even the leaders learnt new things from David and the Brownies managed to earn a special ‘Woodland Challenge’ badge. However, the girls highlight was certainly making armpit fudge – much tastier than it sounds!
This term, we are particularly looking forward to having a visitor talk to us about Bees and having our own carnival!
