BECOMING A BROWNIE

NEW TO GIRLGUIDING?

If your child has not previously been a Rainbow, then the best way to become a Brownie is to register her on the Girlguiding website. Then all your information is sent to us and we will be in touch very soon to invite her for a taster session.

CURRENTLY A RAINBOW?

If your daughter is currently a Rainbow at one of the nearby units, her transfer will be managed between her Rainbow leader and our unit, without any additional forms to be completed. If your daughter currently attends a unit outside Needingworth be sure to tell the Rainbow leader that it is Needingworth you would like her to transfer to.

UNIFORM

After your daughter has been at Brownies for a few sessions and feels confident she would like to continue, it would be a good time to purchase a Brownie Uniform. Uniforms can be purchased online at the Girlguiding shop and are also available from other schoolwear shops locally.

BADGES

Badges can be sewn onto gilets, jumpers or sashes. Although there is no set place to put each badge. Take a look at the pictures for guidance.

ENROLEMENT

After your daughter has been to a few Brownie sessions, we start to prepare her for making her promise. The promise ceremony or enrolement normally happens at the last session before the half term or end of term. The ceremony involves the new Brownie making the following promise infront of the rest of the unit and specially invited family and friends.

I promise that I will do my best,

to be true to myself and develop my beliefs,

to serve the Queen and my community,

to help other people and

to keep the Brownie Guide Law.
